Peter- Peter has no last name and grew up in an orphan home by the name of St. Norbert's. He is the leader of the other orphan boys becuase he claims he is the oldest and he can spit the furthest, making him the undesputed leader. He also has a strong connection with his friends, and will do anything to protect them. When the ship carrying him and his friends to Rundoon to be sold as slaves shipwrecks on a remote island, Peter learns of a magical substance called starstuff that can give people amazing abilities. He helps recover the starstuff with the help of Molly, who is associated with the Starcatchers, an organization that finds the starstuff and takes it away beefore anyone can use it for evil. At one point, Peter handles the gigantic amount of starstuff contained in a gold chest using only his hands. This should have killed him, but instead changed him so that he can never age, can fly, has super-human reflexes, and can communicate with mermaids and fairies.
Molly- Molly is a junior Starcatcher who is a friend of Peter's. She is assisted by him in recovering the starstuff and ultimately the reason why Peter is transformed. This reason being when she is captured, Peter takes out the starstuff and gives the chest to trade, transforming himself in the process.
Black Stache- Stache is a pirate whose name is feared throughout the sea, and his name comes from his almost footlong moustache. He is after the starstuff and is responsible for shipwrecking the Never Land. At the end of the book, Stache tries to kill Peter for always interfering with his plans to seize the chest. Peter then uses his new abilities in self-defense and severs Stache's left hand, which is then swallowed by Mister Grin.
Slank- Slank is the first mate of the Never Land. He is associated with the Others, the group opposite of the Starcatchers. He is a tough man, not afraid of facing any dangers, and very resourceful.
Fighting Prawn- Fighting Prawn is the chief of the Mollusk tribe. In the past he was captured by Englishmen and put into slavery. There he learned English and eventually was shipwrecked back onto his home island. He believes that Englishmen cannot be trusted until Peter saves his life after Black Stache stabs him through the chest.
Mister Grin- Mister Grin is an enormous crocodile that was caught and tortured when Englishmen came to Mollusk Island. He now has a taste for human flesh after eating anyone stranded on the island. He eats Black Stache's hand after it is severed by Peter, and slowly follows Stache afterward.
